SNOW!!!

So tonight has been very eventful in the WeatherHouse, as the first big snowstorm in a while is hitting Columbia.  We have been glued to radar since about 4 pm on Wednesday, and have even engaged in watching weather appropriate movies such as Fargo.  We even got to scare off some vagrants wrestling in the snow in our lawn (I channeled by inner Clint Eastwood per Gran Torino).  Sebastian executed his usual plan when we get a little alcohol in us by making a call to Gumby's.  We had a coupon for a $4 Pokey Stix add-on to any order, and this mixed with mid-week madness made for a fairly unhealthy late night snack.  Looking for an activity to burn some of the calories off lead us to make a trek in the snow.

About midnight, we decided it would be a good idea to visit campus, so we bundled up and headed out on a journey.  This took us to places such as Memorial Union, the Library, the Tiger, Stankowski, and the Quad.  Campus was absolutely beautiful, and hardly anyone was out.  Some of us even rode the Tiger! (admittedly I did not, fearing the consequences of getting caught regarding the Air Force :) )  Ben and Seabass slid down the hill to Stankowski on their stomachs, and after Josh bit it trying to jump over the chain around the Quad, we arrived back home around 1 am.  We walked for about 2 miles in sometimes shin-deep snow (knee-deep for me), so I figure we burned in the neighborhood of 200-300 calories.  Success.

The final snow measurement when we got home was about 9.5 inches, with light snow still falling.  We are hoping for at least 10 by morning.  It was discovered that the fall Josh took caused him to lose some skin on his shin, and it swelled to the size of an egg.  We cleaned and bandaged it, so he is currently sleeping soundly.  The only thing that could make this day any better would be a school cancellation tomorrow.  I don't personally have any classes, I just want to be able to say I was at the university for 2 cancellations (the first being December 1, 2006). Fingers crossed!
